Made in Italy, Busso (Historical Trademarks): “Competitiveness of the Italian System also passes through protection, development and expansion of Historical Trademarks”

Rome, February 21, 2023

“The growth, development and creativity of the companies Made in Italy in the last century represented a unique experience, still never replicated in the world, that led them to achieve leadership positions in all production sectors. Many of these realities today with Historical Trademarks represent a heritage of credibility that must be preserved in order to remain competitive, also in light of the acquisitions in recent years of Trademarks of excellence by large foreign groups that, however, have not produced great results in terms of company revitalization and promotion. We therefore propose that the government and parliament improve some tools, such as the Safeguard Business Fund, to protect the Historical Trademarks from foreign acquisitions aimed only at exploiting their reputation in the markets, allowing them to develop and expand.”

This was stated by Roberto Busso Deputy Vice-President ofAssociation of Italian Historical Trademarks, speaking at a hearing at the House of Representatives’ Committee on Productive Activities, as part of the fact-finding investigation on Made in Italy.

“We also believe it is necessary to introduce new incentives that support them in their development activities, both through investment and expansion of production and commercial capacity, as well as through the protection of Trademarks, their promotion in international markets and the fight against Italian Sounding. extending the purposes of the Made in Italy Fund to enable Historical Trademarks to withstand the current crisis and maintain current levels of productivity and competitiveness. We feel the duty, finally, to divulge the founding value of Historical Trademarks in the national social and cultural heritage, which is why we propose the establishment of the National Day of Historical Trademarks, the only initiative that can raise awareness of their contribution to the promotion of Made in Italy and growth, not only economic, but civil and democratic of the country.”

Vice President Roberto Busso concluded.
