The Special Register of Historical Trademarks of National Interest of the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy (MIMIT)
The Growth Decree (Decree-Law no. 34 of 4/30/2019 converted with amendments by Law no. 58 of 6/28/2019) has established that the owners or exclusive licensees of trademarks registered for at least fifty years, or for which continuous use for at least fifty years can be demonstrated, used for the marketing of products or services made in a nationally excellent productive enterprise historically linked to the national territory, can obtain the registration of the trademark in the Register of Historical Trademarks of National Interest, established at the Italian Patent and Trademark Office.
The Decree February 28, 2025 of the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy, officially established the english-language version of the Italian Historical Trademark.
The new logo, which can be used by companies registered with the Special Register of Historical Trademarks, represents an important opportunity to enhance the identity of Italian Historical Trademarks in international markets, increasing the recognizability and authenticity of products abroad.
The competent office is Division VIII - Trademarks, Designs, and Models, and the related regulatory references, as well as the register of registered companies, can be consulted on the MIMIT website.
