The original brand name of a company is, when all is said and done, still today that Seal which, perhaps as early as the 7th millennium BC, encapsulated a founding value, a mark of ancient origins, used to protect the integrity the content and guarantee the provenance of products and goods with the Romans, or used in the Middle Ages, indeed preceding the "authentic signature", as a sign of identifying its owner and its properties. A practical function which immediately takes on a representative function.
The ideal values of a company are very concrete and living. We talk about the baggage of talents, skills, objectives, history, organization, culture, that is, a unique and unrepeatable identity model, that today we call Business Culture and that the Historical Brand tells us every day suggesting emotions and memories but also the desire to expand as much as possible over time that suggestion, regenerating the tradition in change and innovation.
And so, we have no other reason to form in Associazione Marchi Storici d'Italia, if not the duty, the need, simple and primary, to protect our Historical Brands, National Heritage and active memory of Made in Italy.

THE SPECIAL REGISTER OF HISTORICAL TRADEMARKS OF NATIONAL INTEREST OF THE MINISTRY OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.
Article 31 of Decree Law no. 34 of 30 April 2019 ( Growth Decree), converted to law, with amendments, by article 1 of Law no. 58 of 28 June 2019, set forth that owners or exclusive licensees of business trademarks registered for at least fifty years or for which continuous use of at least fifty years can be demonstrated, used to market products or services created by a first-rate national production company historically with deep roots in Italy, can obtain registration of the trademark in the register of historical trademarks of national interest, established at the Italian Patent and Trademark Office.
The Decree of the Ministry of Economic Development of 10 January 2020 established the logo "Historical trademark of national interest" which businesses listed in the register can use for commercial and promotional purposes and defined its criteria for use.
By means of Decree of the General Manager for the Protection of Industrial Property, the implementing methods were defined as well as the procedural aspects relating to the presentation of applications for registration of historical trademarks in the register. Whenever an application submitted by the user is accepted it will be automatically included in the register, with the user receiving an express notification of this. In addition to the representation of the trademark, the register contains, for each trademark registered, a sequential registration number, as well as the main bibliographical details of the trademark and the related registration application submitted.
HOW TO ENROL IN THE SPECIAL REGISTER OF MISE (MINISTRY OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT) AND REQUIREMENTS
As of 16 April 2021, it is possible to enrol on the register of historical trademarks of national interest.
The managerial decree that establishes the methods for enrolment on the special register of historical trademarks of national interest was published in the Official Journal on 7 April 2020.
Registration can be requested effective from 16 April 2020, by submitting an application to the Italian Patent and Trademark Office exclusively by electronic means, through the on-line portal which can be accessed from this link.
Stamp duty of Euro 15 must be paid for submitting the application.
It should be recalled that the necessary prerequisite for registration is that the trademark has been registered for at least 50 years and renewed continuously over time or, in the case of an unregistered trademark, that actual and continuous use for at least 50 years can be demonstrated.
The Office will check said conditions within a maximum period of 60 days in the case of a registered trademark and 180 days for an unregistered trademark.

To apply to join the Association, first of all, the Application, Master Record and Privacy forms must be requested, by filling in the pre-acceptance form on-line and sending it to email@example.com
The applicant will also receive the By-Laws and any other information on membership activities.

The proselytism of an Association is often based on the presentation of a multitude of benefits that associated organic action offers compared to individual and fragmented initiatives, therefore lacking the necessary force of impact to stimulate interest, listening, understanding of the applications and hence the provisions, to the advantage of a group of companies.
But in our invitation to join the Associazione Marchi Storici d’Italia, we want to lay out the benefits you could obtain, the right/duty to actively participate in the process of formulating and asserting the measures that, together, are considered fundamental in ensuring the protection of the national Historical Trademarks and development of the related business, as a pillar of social development.
All forms of active citizenship are precious, and as far as we are concerned that is what historical Made in Italy companies have founded or inherited thanks to the efforts of their predecessors. Therefore, we strive to intervene before the legislative phase is mapped out, in order to use our expertise to influence the right decisions.
The member Companies can present themselves to the institutions with a single representative and will receive full organisational support from the Association in order to avail of the benefits and incentives reserved to historical trademarks.
