Association takes off Historical Trademarks

Framework Agreement Signed with ICE Over 400 Companies Already National Historical Trademark

  • With the intervention of Ministers Franceschini, Giorgetti and Di Maio, today at Palazzo Massimo alle Terme in Rome the first public initiative of the Association Historical Trademarks, “In the history of Historical Trademarks Italians the prestige and future of the country.”

  • In preparation for the promotion platform for Historical Trademarks;
  • Fully operational the Enterprise Safeguard Fund: nearly two billion also earmarked for Historical Trademarks.

Rome, April 13, 2022 – TheAssociation of Italian Historical Trademarks, created to enhance and protect Made in Italy in the world, today sanctions its full operation with the signing of the first framework agreement with ITA (Italian Trade Agency) for the promotion abroad and internationalization of Italian companies. Focal point of the agreement, training and digitization activities directed to the Association’s member companies.

Occasion to usher in the start of operations was the meeting “In the history of Historical Trademarks Italians the prestige and future of the country” held this morning at Palazzo Massimo alle Terme in Rome.

Opened by a greeting from Culture Minister Dario Franceschini and closed by a speech from Economic Development Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti, the meeting also hosted a message from Foreign Affairs Minister Luigi Di Mario. Introduced then by Massimo Caputi, President of the Association Historical Trademarks, and moderated by Nathania Zevi, a round table discussion followed with Roberto Luongo, General Director of ICE, Francesca Mariotti, General Director of Confindustria, Marika Aakesson, Lazio President of ADI – Industrial Design Association, with representatives of the Association: Alessia Antinori, Vice President Marchesi Antinori, Roberto Busso, Managing Director Gabetti Property Solution and Maurizio Gardini, President of Conserve Italia and Confcooperative and Luca Bergamo, Director of the Association Historical Trademarks.

The centerpiece of the event was a discussion on the role of Historical Trademark companies in the development of the country and the presentation of the Association’s program, which aims to maximize the synergies that can be realized among Historical Trademark companies (to date there are about 400 registered in the Special Register established in the summer of 2019), to whom an invitation to join the Association was extended during the meeting. Among the already operational instruments illustrated is the Enterprise Safeguard Fund, which allocates a total of €1.850 billion – €300 million initial endowment with Decree Law No. 34 of May 19, 2020, 250 million refinancing to 2021 with the law of Dec. 30, 2020, and 100 million for each of the years 2022 to 2035 – to support business activity, Association of Italian Historical Trademarks Via Antonio Nibby, 11 – 00161 Rome, tel. +39 06 45479947, segreteria@marchistorici.com, www. marchistorici.com, CF 96492480585 mitigate the impacts of the economic-financial crisis and establish public-private partnerships.

During the round table discussion, a unanimous opinion then emerged regarding the need to strengthen the measures aimed at the protection and enhancement – also within the framework of the PNRR – of companies holding Historical Trademarks, i.e., those entrepreneurial realities that are protagonists of the past and future of the Italian economy, that have been operating on Italian territory for more than fifty years, that constitute an important piece of the national cultural heritage and that are a fundamental instrument of the Italian presence in the world and an important vehicle of informal diplomacy; other European countries have had an active policy toward Historical Trademarks Nationals for years.

Born from the initiative of eight historical brands – Antinori, Inghirami, Conserve Italia, Gabetti, Ekaf, Benetton, Terme di Saturnia and Amaro Lucano 1894 – which were immediately joined by Cannella, De Cecco, Duke, Lampo, Mazzetti D’Altavilla, Modiano and Zacchera Hotels, the Association is the instrument with which companies give strength and operationalization to Article 31 of Decree Law No. 34 of April 30, 2019, which established the creation of the Register of Historical Trademarks of National Interest.

Among the main operational objectives of the Association’s platform in the working groups reserved for Members are the identification and mobilization of resources to seize economic opportunities at the national and international level, the promotion of partnerships and collaborations among companies Historical Trademarks, the protection of the uniqueness of each business culture and, in conclusion, the enhancement of Made in Italy abroad also through direct agreements with ICE, Simest, Sace, CDP, Invitalia.

The Association Historical Trademarks
L’Association of Italian Historical Trademarks was established in 2021 and is the Association of Historical Trademark holders registered in the Register of Historical Trademarks Historical Trademarks of National Interest at the Ministry of Economic Development, pursuant to Article 31 of Decree-Law No. 34 of April 30, 2019 (the so-called Growth Decree), converted into law, with amendments, by Article 1 of Law No. 58 of June 28, 2019. The Association has as its main objectives the enhancement and protection of Made in Italy abroad, as well as the promotion of the historical cultural heritage of Italian entrepreneurship. Members include Amaro Lucano 1894, Antinori, Benetton, Cannella, Conserve Italia, De Cecco, Duke, Ekaf, Gabetti, Inghirami, Lampo, Mazzetti D’Altavilla, Modiano, Terme di Saturnia, and Zacchera Hotels.
