Sammontana Gelati all’italiana and Bindi Join the Association of Italian Historical Trademarks
Sammontana Gelati all’Italiana and Bindi, both part of the Sammontana Italia Group, have joined the Association of Italian Historical Trademarks following their inclusion in the Register of Historical Trademarks of National Interest on November 5 and 14, 2025, respectively.
Two iconic brands, each representing entrepreneurial journeys deeply rooted in Italy’s culinary history: Sammontana Gelati all’Italiana, a symbol of quality, tradition, and innovation in the world of gelato, and Bindi, a leading name in pastry for the foodservice industry and an ambassador of the Italian art of dessert-making around the world.
Sammontana’s story began eighty years ago in a small provincial ice cream shop, where an entrepreneurial vision took shape that was destined to become one of the finest examples of “Made in Italy” excellence. From an artisanal workshop to a leading national player in industrial bulk ice cream—and today, also in frozen pastries thanks to the creation of the Sammontana Italia Group (which includes brands such as Tre Marie, Il Pasticcere, and Forno d’Asolo)— Sammontana has forged its path while remaining true to its founding values: passion, quality, and a focus on Italian tastes.
Over the decades, the company has established itself through constant investment in innovation, production technologies, and research, adapting to changing consumer habits without ever losing touch with tradition. This journey, marked by entrepreneurial courage and the ability to reinvent itself, has helped make Sammontana Gelati all’Italiana a leading name in the Italian food industry.
Among the products that have shaped the brand’s history are major hits such as Barattolino Sammontana, Coppa Oro, Stecco Ducale, and the Coni 5 Stelle line, all the way to the most recent offerings geared toward a lighter, more contemporary style of consumption, such as Fruttiamo and Amando, the dairy-free and gluten-free almond milk ice cream. These innovations demonstrate the brands’ and the company’s ability to combine taste, quality, and new dietary needs.
Bindi, on the other hand, was founded in Milan 80 years ago, thanks to the vision of Attilio Bindi, who opened a small pastry shop on Via Larga, just a short walk from the Duomo. Today, it represents the pinnacle of pastry excellence for the foodservice industry and is recognized in over 40 countries worldwide, from Europe to the United States and Asia. Today, it is the benchmark brand for the highest quality in traditional desserts, as well as the ultimate expression of innovation in dessert-making, attention to detail, and creativity. Bindi is renowned for its wide range of traditional and innovative delights, from the Torta della nonna to the Millefoglie and the Chocolate Temptation, the classic Profiterol, and the many variations of Tiramisu.
Today, Sammontana Gelati all’Italiana and Bindi are embarking on a new journey within the Sammontana Italia Group, created to promote and strengthen Historical Trademarks and complementary brands in the worlds of gelato, pastries, and frozen baked goods. This project focuses on quality, innovation, product culture, and the ability to bring Italian excellence to international markets.
At the heart of Sammontana and Bindi’s growth is a holistic approach to quality that encompasses the entire production chain, from suppliers to distribution. Every day, the Quality and Research teams work to ensure high safety standards, select the best raw materials, and develop new products in line with market trends and consumer expectations.
Inclusion in the Register of Historical Trademarks represents an important recognition for Sammontana and Bindi, highlighting the role they have played and continue to play in promoting Italian industrial and food culture.
By joining the Association of Italian Historical Trademarks, Sammontana and Bindi are helping to strengthen the legacy of expertise, innovation, and tradition embodied by these Historical Trademarks, which are true symbols of the country’s manufacturing excellence.
