Historical Trademarks of Made in Italy: Sina Hotels

We the Italians magazine’s August column on Historical Trademarks celebrates Sina Hotels, Italy’s longest-running collection of family-run luxury hotels, a symbol of Made in Italy excellence and hospitality.

Founded in 1958 by Count Ernesto Bocca, Sina Hotels represents a success story rooted in Italian hotel tradition and a forward-looking entrepreneurial vision. It all began with the purchase of the Grand Hotel Villa Medici in Florence, transformed into a true icon of Italian hospitality, frequented over time by celebrities such as the Shah of Persia and Farah Diba.

In the years that followed, the founder’s vision took shape in a collection of luxury hotels that marked the evolution of Italian hôtellerie, with iconic structures in cities such as Rome, Milan, Viareggio, Perugia and many others. With the entry of his children Matilde and Bernabò Bocca, the passion for hospitality has been further strengthened, keeping the family identity alive and expanding the collection with prestigious hotels, each with its own history and style.

In 2023, the group celebrated its 65th anniversary, an important milestone that testifies to its ongoing commitment to promoting Italian hospitality. To crown this long journey of excellence, Sina Hotels received the recognition of Historical Trademark Italian, officially attesting to its value within the national entrepreneurial heritage.

The Bocca family continues to lead the company today with the same spirit and dedication as its origins, projecting the tradition of Italian hospitality toward new challenges and future success.
