Saquella 1856 joins theAssociation of Italian Historical Trademarks
TheAssociation of Italian Historical Trademarks is proud to welcome Saquella 1856, a symbol of Italian excellence specializing in coffee production, to its membership.
In 1856 Clemente Saquella started in Abruzzo the trade of spices and colonials, tea, barley, and cocoa of the most varied origins and qualities. Later he and his brother Antonio opened a warehouse in the Abruzzi city of Chieti for wholesale sales, as is documented by the registration of the firm “Antonio and Clemente Saquella” in the register of Weights and Measures Users.
Today the company is led by Enrico with his children, Ilaria, Bianca and Arnaldo, who represent the fifth generation. The company is present in Italy and abroad in 40 countries in the Horeca and Retail channel with a network of distributors and two subsidiaries.
All members have always been immersed in the culture of coffee and the aromas of roasting, learning from an early age the art of Italian espresso. The jealously guarded formulas and secret recipes of the blends are handed down from one generation to the next to keep the flavors of this long tradition intact.
Saquella in 2013 adheres to the values of equity and sustainability and obtains the Fairtrade certificate. An international ethical certification mark that supports the most disadvantaged producers in developing countries, guaranteeing them a fair price and enabling them to enter the trading system under conditions of transparency and fairness, thus improving their living conditions.
