Vitone Eco Joins the Association of Italian Historical Trademarks

Founded in 1904, Vitone Eco is a long-standing company in Italian industry, with over 120 years of experience in the development of technologies and machinery for olive processing, winemaking, and, later, sludge treatment and dewatering.

The company’s history began with an initiative by Vitantonio Vitone, who, in 1904, designed the first prototype of a hydraulic pump for local olive mill owners. This insight marked the beginning of an entrepreneurial journey characterized by innovation, customer focus, and continuous technological advancement.

In 1915, the company signed its first major contract to supply a cylinder for a hydraulic press, and in the years that followed, it solidified its reputation through innovative technical solutions and a direct relationship with its customers. In 1921, even the company’s marketing communications came to reflect its corporate philosophy, with an original price list that demonstrated Vitone’s confidence in the quality and competitiveness of its products.

In 1941, the company introduced a new vehicle designed for technicians to perform maintenance work at customer sites, while at the same time turning it into a pioneering form of mobile advertising. This serves as a testament to Vitone’s ability to combine technical innovation with a focus on market needs.

Starting in the 1990s, Vitone gradually expanded its international presence. In 1996, through a joint venture with a Tunisian partner, the company opened its first overseas repair and maintenance facility in Sfax, strengthening its presence in North Africa.

In 1998, Vitantonio Vitone was honored in his hometown of Bitonto with the naming of a street after him and the unveiling of a commemorative plaque recognizing his role as a pioneer in olive oil production technology. In the 2000s, the company continued its diversification efforts, entering the wastewater treatment sector with the construction, in 2007, of its first sludge dewatering plant designed for wastewater treatment.

The internationalization process continued in 2017 with the company’s entry into the avocado oil extraction sector, which allowed it to continue its commercial expansion into Central African markets (Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Tanzania, and South Africa) and South American markets (Mexico, Colombia, Peru, etc.).

Today, Vitone Eco continues to develop innovative technological solutions, thanks in part to the research and development activities of two LIFE projects co-funded by the European Community, which have strengthened its relationships with institutional partners (CNR, Polytechnic University of Bari, AQP Acquedotto Pugliese, and leading national and international companies), building upon and expanding a wealth of expertise accumulated over more than a century of history while maintaining a strong connection to its origins and to Italian industrial tradition.
