CALIA ITALIA JOINS THE ASSOCIATION OF ITALIAN HISTORICAL TRADEMARKS
The Association of Italian Historical Trademarks welcomes Calia Italia as a member. Based in Matera, the company has been listed in the Special Register of Historical Trademarks of National Interest since November 15, 2021, and is an international leader in the production of designer sofas and armchairs.
Founded in 1965 by Liborio Vincenzo Calia, the company’s mission is “to make people feel good.” For over sixty years, it has translated this mission into products that combine comfort, quality, and artisanal craftsmanship. Today, under the leadership of Giuseppe and Saverio Calia—with the third generation already actively involved—the company exports “Made in Italy” products to over 80 countries.
This growth has been driven by ongoing investments in innovation: from the SAP management system to one of Europe’s largest automated warehouses, to the 3D configurator integrated with the management system—which has digitized the shopping experience—and to more sustainable production processes. Every day, the company produces over 1,000 chairs, develops dozens of new models, and supports the work of over 1,500 people in the Murgia supply chain.
Based in the city of the Sassi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Calia Italia has always promoted a corporate culture rooted in social responsibility, the promotion of the local area, and support for scientific research through the AIRC Foundation, as well as for the arts and young talent, earning national and international recognition for design, innovation, and social commitment.
By joining the Association of Italian Historical Trademarks, Calia Italia becomes part of a network of companies that preserve and promote Italy’s industrial heritage, helping to spread the values of quality, tradition, and innovation that define “Made in Italy” around the world.
