Historical Trademarks of Made in Italy: Savio Firmino
The December column in We the Italians magazine this month celebrates Savio Firmino, excellence in Florentine artistic craftsmanship and a brand that has combined tradition, craftsmanship and innovation for nearly 85 years. A name that embodies the continuity of the values of the best Italian production, handed down through four generations.
Founded in 1941 by Firmino Savio, a skilled master carver from the Oltrarno area, the beating heart of Florentine craftsmanship since the Renaissance, the company was born with a collection of finely hand-carved and hand-gilded wooden chandeliers, candlesticks and torch holders. Right from the start, classic forms and extreme attention to detail defined a distinctive style that was destined to become an international reference.
In the 1950s, thanks to the collection of mirrors decorated with gold leaf, crystals and semi-precious stones, Savio Firmino won the interest of foreign markets, particularly the United States, South Africa and the United Kingdom.

The 1980s marked a strategic expansion of the offer with the Ambiente Notte Collection, dedicated to bedrooms: from a design by Guido Savio was born the iconic bed art. 1696, characterized by the elegant “ribbon and flowers” carving, today an international symbol of the brand.

In the 1990s the new headquarters in Scandicci was opened, in the district where the most important fashion and design brands operate. The entry of the third generation Savio Cosimo, Gregorio and Michela brought new energy and vision, along with Amedeo and Guido, the founder’s sons.

2008 saw the launch of the Notte Fatata Collection, the world’s first high-end children’s line, created to celebrate the birth of Guido Savio’s first granddaughter: cribs, beds, changing tables and furniture that express the grace and elegance of the Savio Firmino style for even the youngest children.
Today the company continues to innovate while staying true to tradition.
The adoption of blockchain technology to certify origin, materials and craftsmanship offers consumers transparency and traceability. In addition, Savio Firmino is considering the integration of EUDR certification, in view of the new European directives on deforestation that will take effect in 2026, confirming its commitment to a sustainable and responsible supply chain.
Savio Firmino represents a perfect balance between historical memory and contemporary vision: a brand that cherishes a unique artistic legacy, transforming it into exclusive products that are recognizable and loved around the world.
A Historical Trademark that continues to tell the story of Italian excellence with elegance, authenticity and innovation.
