Historical Trademarks of Made in Italy: Toschi Vignola

The October column in We the Italians magazine celebrates Toschi Vignola, excellence in Italian food art and a symbol of quality, tradition and authentic taste.

Founded in 1945 by brothers Giancarlo and Lanfranco Toschi, the company was born out of a desire to enhance the typical fruits of the territory by transforming them into iconic specialties such as Toschi Amarena cherries, toppings, syrups and traditional liqueurs, appreciated in more than 80 countries.

From the first production of cherries in spirit to the collaboration with Enzo Ferrari in the 1950s, Toschi has always combined tradition and innovation. In the 1960s, the opening of the Savignano sul Panaro plant marked the beginning of international expansion, while the 1970s saw the birth of Frutta Spiritosa and the consolidation of products such as Nocino di Modena and the line of ice cream and dessert toppings.

The 1980s saw the birth of the Ciliegia d’Oro Award, an annual recognition to such notable Emilian personalities as Enzo Ferrari, Luciano Pavarotti and Massimo Bottura. In the following decades Toschi expanded its offerings with the artisan ice cream division, the Zero+ line with no added sugars and the KeToschi line, designed for the ketogenic diet. In 2025, Toschi Amarena Zero+ debuted, the first candied black cherry with no added sugar and 50 percent fewer calories.

Today, led by the third generation of the family, Toschi Vignola represents a benchmark brand for quality, authenticity and taste, with a strong identity rooted in the territory and a constant eye on innovation.
