2030 AGENDA FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
What concrete initiatives have you already launched or are you planning to address the major ongoing transformations, including the green and ecological transition, digital transformation and sustainability?
“For Caffè Ottolina, sustainability is a tangible and progressive journey. In 2026, we installed solar panels, integrating renewable energy into our energy supply, and implemented efficiency improvements to our roasting plant to reduce energy consumption. Since 2007, we have also been offering Rainforest Alliance certified coffee, reflecting a long-standing commitment that extends to the selection of raw materials. We are also introducing artificial intelligence systems to optimize purchasing planning and make our internal processes more efficient, reducing waste and improving the use of resources.”
INNOVATION
What recent product or process innovation, or innovative communication project, would you like to highlight in terms of the market advantages it has generated?
“Being recognized as a Historic Trademark has given us the opportunity to showcase in a new way the heritage we have built over more than seventy years in business. In international markets in particular, we have seen strong interest in the history of Caffè Ottolina and its connection with Made in Italy, distinctive elements for a product so deeply rooted in Italian culture as coffee.
This experience also inspired ‘Armonia’, the new blend in the Linea del Maestro, Heritage Collection, created to express through the product our history, the culture of Italian coffee and our ability to look to the future.”
NEW SKILLS
Based on your experience, what advice would you give to SMEs with a Historic Trademark seeking to bring new skills into their company and integrate them effectively with the family’s younger generations?
“For a family business with a long history, embracing new skills means evolving without losing its identity. Today, the fourth generation of the family is actively involved in Caffè Ottolina, carrying the business forward with new ideas, new projects and a more international outlook. The exchange between this new perspective and the experience built up within the company represents real value for us.
We believe that growth depends precisely on the ability to bring different generations, skills and perspectives into dialogue, while also opening up to new professional expertise and projects that reflect the spirit of the market in which we operate. This is how we aim to build the company’s future, combining continuity with innovation.”
