Listed in the Register of Historical Trademarks of National Interest on January 14, 2026, Bondolfi Boncaffè is one of Italy’s historic companies in the coffee roasting sector, with a tradition dating back to 1855 that, through six generations of the Bondolfi family, continues to combine quality, innovation, and the culture of Italian espresso.
The company’s history began in Rome, when Pietro Bondolfi, a native of Poschiavo, Switzerland, opened a small shop on Via Baccina, in the heart of the Eternal City. This initial venture marked the start of an entrepreneurial journey that would grow over time, while always remaining true to the values of passion, dedication, and a commitment to quality.
After the war, his grandson Edoardo Bondolfi transformed the small coffee roasting workshop into a well-established business, contributing to the brand’s growth and solidifying the company’s position among the leading coffee producers in Central Italy.
In the years that followed, Gianfranco Bondolfi, together with his daughters Pamela, Lucilla, and Carola, led the company into a new phase of development, strengthening its presence in the Italian market and taking the first steps toward international expansion.
Today, Bondolfi Boncaffè is led by the sixth generation of the family, with Edoardo and Tommaso committed to carrying on an entrepreneurial legacy spanning over 170 years—one founded on the continuous pursuit of quality, innovation in production processes, and the promotion of a culture of high-quality coffee and authentic Italian espresso.
